6 August, Kathmandu: At least 126 Nepalese are stranded in Libya and are seeking return tickets to Nepal after the Korean company employing them closed without making arrangements for their return.

Nepal’s embassy in Cairo, Egypt, has requested the Nepal government to make necessary arrangements to repatriate them at the earliest, today’s Republica daily reports.

The embassy on Monday send a letter with details of the stranded Nepalese to the Foreign Employment Promotion Board and urged the latter to expedite the return tickets.

“Kindly note that around 126 Nepalis need to be rescued from Libya soon. They shall be repatriated via Tunisia as all international airports in Libya are closed since many days because of heavy fighting there,” reads an email forwarded by the embassy to FEPB.
