24 April, Kathmandu: Chairman of the main opposition, CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli has argued that if the budget was brought in between the two local elections, it would question the credibility of the elections.

Chairman Oli said this while speaking after seeking special time at the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament today. The present proposal being forwarded in the Parliament was against the spirit of the constitution, he commented, adding, “It was not good to ignore major opposition while taking important decision on elections.”

However, he said that UML was for consensus, for solution, for all three-tier elections. “But, why is UML being blamed that it was obstructing election,” he wondered.

The Chairman further said it was illogical to increase the local level units.

On a different note, he said it was the arbitrariness of the government to arrest DIG Nawaraj Silwal without a warrant. RSS
