Mohan-Baidhya-Kiran21 Sept Kathmandu: Agitating 33-Party Alliance led by CPN-Maoist has called off the Bandh program that was called to disrupt the candidacy nomination process on 25th and 26th September for 2nd Constituent Assembly (CA) election slated for 9th November.

The meeting of the alliance held at Central Office of CPN-Maoist at Buddhanagar Kathmandu, on Saturday decided to call off the Bandh.

Emerging from the meeting Haribhakta Kandel the leader of CPN-Maoist said the bandh was called off considering the festive time as it was called on the eve of Dashain.

Mobilizing the Nepal Army, formed to defend national sovereignty, in the domestic affair such as election is blatantly against the Comprehensive Peace Accord, the meeting concluded.

The meeting called for the withdrawal of such decision at the earliest, stated a press release issued by Maoist Secretary Dev Gurung on behalf of the alliance.

The meeting also condemned the incident of raid carried out by Indian Police in the homes of Nepali people recently in Bardiya district headquarters, Guleriya.

The Election Commission on Thursday had postponed the date of candidacy nomination deadline for a week.

Many speculate the bandh is called off just because of the changed schedule of the candidacy nomination dateline.

The 33-party alliance that has declared to boycott the 2nd CA election, has been organizing various protest programs to disrupt the election process.
