21 September, KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has allowed two international and 49 national organizations to monitor the Constituent Assembly polls slated for November 19.

The 51 groups will deploy more than 74,000 observers to monitor the CA election in fields, according to the EC.

Two national groups, which were interested to monitor the election, have been disqualified due to lack of necessary documents, according to EC officials.

The two international organizations–Carter Center and Asian Network for Free Election have been chosen to monitor the polls. Similarly, the European Union (EU) and the United Nations will be invited for the same purpose, according to the EC sources.

A total of 148 domestic and 30 international organizations fielded 60,000 observers during the 2008 CA polls. However, only 23 local and five international organizations submitted their reports to the EC.
