arjun-karkiKathmandu: Nepali actor Arjun Karki today set out to scale Sagarmatha (Mt Everest), the tallest peak in the world. Chairman of the Film Artistes’ Association of Nepal, Nawal Khadka, bade farewell to Karki, handing over the Nepali flag and the association’s flag to him amidst a programme on the Pashupatinath Temple premises.

Although many people have scaled the Everest so far, no artiste has achieved the feat, Khadka noted, adding that Karki’s journey will be historical in the field of Nepali films.

Karki is taking water from the holy Bagmati to the tallest peak, it is learnt. More than 50 people associated with the Nepali film industry were present on the occasion.

Former Chief Election Commissioner Bhojraj Pokhrel wished Karki success in his endeavour.

Karki said he expects to complete the ascent in 22 days. Karki has acted in over 20 Nepali films, including Didibhai and Bazaar.
