UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday said the demands of the youths on fast-onto-death at Khula Manch in the Capital, should be addressed at the earliest.
A group of 12 youths led by Chandra Bahadur Thapa are on the strike for five days, putting forth various demands including creation of employment opportunities within the country so that youths would not be forced for foreign employments.
Addressing a programme organised at Shanti Batika in the Capital on Sunday to mark the International Workers’ Day, Chairman Dahal said the demands of the agitating youths were genuine and that they must be addressed.
Other people from various walks of life including former officials of the government, leaders of various political parties, literary persons and leaders of student unions echoed the view of Dahal on the demands of the youths, while expressing their solidarity with the strike.
Former Chief Secretary Leela Mani Poudyal drew the government’s attention to the deteriorating health of the agitating youths. The government must take necessary steps to address their demands, he underscored.
