16 August, KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist secretary Netra Bikram Chand has warned to take to the streets if a package deal on contents of the new constitution was not forged among all political parties.

At an interaction program in Pokhara on Friday, the CPN-Maoist leader argued that constitution was drafted in many countries in the world except from the Constituent Assemblies.

He expressed doubt on promulgation of the constitution through the second Constituent Assembly (CA) election which is likely to cost billions of rupees.

Chand also said that remaining 10 per cent works of the constitution writing could be completed through a high-level consensus as 90 per cent works of the constitution writing have been completed by the erstwhile CA.

Meanwhile, speaking at a separate program in Rupandehi, another secretary of the CPN-Maoist, Dev Gurung, has said that election conducted forcefully without consensus would be unacceptable to his party.

At a program in Basgadhi of Rupandehi, Gurung said that a roundtable conference was the only way to end the current political imbroglio.

He claimed that CA election could not be conducted by sidelining the 33 agitating political parties.
