28 April, Kathmandu: Non-resident ambassador of Nepal to Mongolia, Leela Mani Paudyal, presented his letter of credence to President of Mongolia, Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, amid a special ceremony organized at the Office of the President, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on Thursday.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Paudyal conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from President Bidya Devi Bhandari as well as from the people of Nepal for the continued peace and prosperity of the people of Mongolia. After the ceremony, the Ambassador had a brief meeting with the Mongolian President, said a press statement released by the Nepali Embassy in Beijing.

During the meeting, various bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest were shared. Also in the afternoon, Ambassador Paudyal paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Tsend Munkh-Orgil. The Foreign Minister congratulated Ambassador Paudyal for presenting his letter of credence to the President of Mongolia.

The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the excellent arrangements made since his arrival in Ulaanbaatar. He conveyed that the Government of Nepal is in the process for the accession to the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries. He also expressed his views that there are lots of opportunities to promote bilateral relations between Nepal and Mongolia in fields of tourism, culture, trade, investment and people-to-people contacts.

The Foreign Minister requested Ambassador Paudyal to support for the construction of Mongolian monastery in Lumbini. He further shared about the idea of developing Buddhist circuit for Buddhist pilgrimage. Ambassador Paudyal also visited office of the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries, where he had a meeting with Erdenetsogt ODBAYAR, Ambassador-at-Large.

During the meeting both sides underlined the importance of cooperation and collaboration between and among the landlocked developing countries for meeting challenges posed by their development status, geographical location and climate change. Ambassador Paudyal is to present two papers on investment opportunities and tourism to the selected business communities this evening.
He is returning to Beijing on tomorrow. RSS
