22 Jan, Pokhara: Chairman of the CPN-UML and former prime minister KP Sharma Oli has said the constitution amendment bill was against national interest.

Inaugurating the three-day volleyball competition and an orientation programme his party organized here Sunday, Chairman Oli said all four points proposed for the amendment were not the needs of the country and people.

He further accused the government of proposing amendment which is aimed at weakening national unity and integrity and hurting the relations among the people from hills and southern plains. The UML was working actively against this conspiracy for the sake of country, he argued.

Although elections are imperative to implement the constitution, present government is filibustering the activities to this regard, he blamed.

He seconded Chairman Oli saying that ill-efforts were underway to jeopardize national unity and integrity.
