The flooded Budhigandaki River swept away 10 houses including three hotels at Jagat Bazaar of Sirdibas-1 leaving 15 others at high risk of erosion.

After the river changed its course, it swept away the houses, said a local Rajendra Karki, adding that as many as 10 houses were swept away in a week. With this, the displaced households have been spending day and night under the tents, he added.

Those who lost their house are Purna Bahadur Gurung, Krishna Bahadur Lama, Abhisek Lama, Bishal Gurung, Bel Bahadur Lama, Dilmaya Gurung, Himali Ghale, Man Bahadur Gurung, Kaman Singh Ghale and Dhan Bahadur Gurung.

Jagat Bazaar falls under the Manaslu trekking route. It is also the checking point of the Manaslu Conservation Area Project.

Another local Sarita Ghale informed that the locals were panicking over the possible erosion by the flooded river.

Meanwhile Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhatt said the people losing houses have shifted to safe places.
