23 April, Kathmandu: Various tourism entrepreneurs’ organisations have demanded the cancellation of National Tourism Fair announced by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) from May 2 to 4 in the capital.

They made this call at a press meet organised in the capital today. Speaking at the programme, Trekking Agents’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) President Ramesh Dhamala argued that NTB decided to hold the fair without holding any consultations with the private sector. He accused the NTB of intending to discourage the private sector. We feel insulted by the NTB move, he added.

Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Nepal Association of Rafting Agents, PATA Nepal Chapter, Thamel Tourism Development Council, Himalayan Rescue Association, Nepal Association of Tour Operators and Nepal National Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association  have expressed objection to the NTB move.

Prior to this, they called on Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhim Acharya and submitted a memorandum to that end. RSS
