14 Sept, Kathmandu: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has shared that all mechanisms are being mobilized to check the incidents of the violation of the election code of conduct.

“We have deficit political culture; in a way there is no democratic culture”, Dr Yadav said at a meeting with the office bearers of General Election Observation Committee (GEOC) and National Election Observation Committee (NEOC).

“Though warnings have been issued to the political parties and candidates questions have been raised on the compliance of election code of conduct. There is no option but to enable environment for conducting elections in a free and fair manner. We are putting out all-out efforts to that end”, Dr Yadav added.

In order the check the breach of election of conduct, the EC has so far asked at least 40 clarifications and issued directives to the political parties and candidates. “The breaching of election code of conduct would undermine the values of democracy”, the CEC noted.

On the occasion, Gopal Shivakoti of NEOC and Krishna Man Pradhan of GEOC urged the EC to adopt zero tolerance against those breaching code of conduct. RSS
