Committee to study on implementation of the apex court ruling

23 Oct, Kathmandu: The Election Commission has formed a seven-member committee to study and report on the implementation of the Supreme Court ruling about the ballot paper of the election to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies.

The committee has been formed under the convenorship of Joint Secretary at the Commission Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, according to EC Spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal.

It may be noted that the EC decision to use the same ballot paper for the proportional representation (PR) electoral system of both the elections had been challenged in the apex court. Rastriya Janata Party leader Sarbendranath Shukla had filed the petition.

The Supreme Court however decided not to entertain the petition, arguing that the EC had already started printing the ballot papers.
