7 Sept, Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Court has issued an interim order to stop counting the votes received to choose the best singers in ‘Nepal Idol’, a famous reality show being aired in a television show. The order is to stop counting until September 8.

A single bench of judge Bivakar Bhatta on Wednesday issued the order, said Spokesperson at the Kathmandu District Court, Krishna Prasad Nepal. Both the sides to the case have been called for a discussion on September 8.

Lawyers including Yagyamani Neupane had filed writ petition demanding scrapping of a decision taken by the show organisers to start re-voting without making any contestant, out of the four remaining contestants, out from the show.

Voting was opened from 8:45 pm to mid-night after the performance of the four contestants on August 31. Although 3.7 million votes were received during the period, none of the contestants was ousted from the programme held on September 1. RSS
