Kathmandu, Dec 6: Chairman of Constitutional-Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC) Dr Baburam Bhattarai has submitted the CPDCC report on the draft of the constitution to Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Nembang.

Chairman Dr Bhattarai submitted the report to CA Chairman Nembang after holding consultations with the top leaders of different political parties.

With the submission of the report, the rays of hope have been observed for acceleration of constitution writing.

However, discussions on the proposal forwarded by the ruling Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML would not be held though it was taken to the CA as well, as it would not be put on vote for decision, it is said.

The CPDCC meeting was disrupted for long after the ruling parties tabled a common proposal on key issues of constitution and federalism at the Committee.

It is said that the concepts and opinions of the political parties and politicians were sent to the CA only for the notice of the CA.

Receiving the report, Chairman Nembang said the report has paved the way to take the opinions of the political parties and lawmakers to the CA.

Nembang said that the CA business would continue as per the CA Regulations and the report handover should be taken positively to end the political deadlock.

Chairman Dr Bhattarai said that the fresh step was an example of consensus despite doubts and differences among the political parties.

He said that the report was prepared by applying a middle way keeping in view the concerns of both sides. RSS
