24 May, Khotang: The family members of a migrant Nepali worker who died in Kuwait six years ago have finally been compensated.

Bhumi Prasad Rai from Bopung area of Jantedhunga rural municipality died in course of employment on September 30, 2011. His family has now received Rs 8.766 million in compensation.

The cheque provided through the Foreign Ministry was handed over to Rai’s wife, Bina, Assistant Chief District Officer, Dinesh Kumal said. “It took a long time due to problems with the documents,” he said, adding “Although late, we have addressed the need of the deceased’s family.”

Earlier, the kin of Chandrabole Rai of Mattim area in Sakela rural municipality, who also died in course of work in Kuwait, was provided Rs 9.8 million in compensation. RSS
