27 March, Kathmandu: Qatari Ambassador to Nepal Yousuf Mohammad Ahmed Mommad Al-hail paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar on Sunday.

During the meeting, Qatari Ambassador Al-hail handed over the DPM Nidhi an invitation on the behalf of the Qatari Prime Minister as well as the Minister of Interior, Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani to visit Qatar, according to the Secretariat of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The invitation for a visit aims to strengthen the bilateral relationships between Qatar and Nepal that spans more than two decades.

Diplomatic relation between the two countries was signed in January, 1997.

Receiving the invitation letter, DPM Nidhi said that he would soon visit Qatar and meet the Qatari PM.

On the occasion, the Qatari envoy said that the Qatar government was ready to extend any support for the upcoming local level election in Nepal.

Responding to the Qatari government’s willingness to support in the election, Nidhi said that the government would discuss the issue and will appraise the Qatari government. The two also held talks on issues relating to bilateral relations as well as the welfare of the Nepalis working in Qatar.

There are an estimated 500,000 Nepalis working in Qatar, according to the statistics of the Department of the Foreign Employment. RSS
