19 April, Chitwan: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairperson Kamal Thapa has urged the Madhesi Front to review its decision to boycott the local-level elections.

Addressing a public gathering organized here on Wednesday by RPP Chitwan, Chairperson Thapa urged the Front to participate in the grand campaign of delegating down the rights of Singhadurbar to the local level.

Thapa, also the Deputy Prime Minister and Minsiter for Federal Affairs and Local Development, said that the government and political parties have the common end to enable rights of the Madhesi people but the means to attain this is different. “We can explore a way out through dialogue and consensus. But there is no point shying away from the election”, he added.

DPM Thapa clarified that the constitution amendment bill was registered at the parliament to facilitate the Front’s participation in the election. Thapa also asked the voters to cast their votes as a nationalist Nepali with self-pride.

Speaking on the occasion, RPP senior leader Pashupati Shumsher Rana demanded the government to ensure participation of Madhes-based parties in the election.

RPP Vice-Chairperson and Minister for Land Reforms and Management Bikram Pandey said the RPP would cherish the people’s aspirations as they are longing for development.

At the programme, RPP general secretary Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan stressed the need to hold the election to hand over people’s power to people. RSS
