17 August, KATHMANDU: The collection of biometric voters’ namelist has re-opened for a week across the country from today as complaints mounted from all walks of life after many reported missing voters.

Spokesperson of the Election Commission (EC) Bir Bahadur Rai said that the EC has given a week-long additional period for registering the name in the biometric voters’ list to those voters who missed the chance earlier.

The EC has re-opened voter registration till August 23 without affecting the timetable of the November 19 CA elections. Earlier, the EC had collected the voters’ names by mid-July. The EC is preparing to publish the final namelist of the voters on September 7.

Meanwhile, members of the former royal family have registered their name by visiting the Kathmandu District Election Office, Babarmahal, today.

Puja Shah, Sitashma Shah and Dilasha Shah, daughters of ex-prince Dhirendra Shah, registered their namelist, according to Chief of Office Shambhu Chalise.
