Around 11 metric tons of garbage were collected from the Bagmati river section located under the Shankhamul Bridge on the 157th week of Bagmatic Clean-up Campaign.

The High Powered Committee for Integrated Development of the Bagmati Civilization, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal Reiyukai, Jivan Bigyan, Advertising Association of Nepal (AAN) and S Travels among other organizations took part in the clean up today.

Former Chief Secretary, Lilamani Poudyal, former Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary, Suresh Prakash Acharya, campaigner Dr Raju Adhikari among others took part, said AAN General Secretary, Narayan Shrestha.

A meeting held in the presence of Education Ministry Secretary, Bishwo Prakash Pandit, on Friday took the decision to instruct all the schools to join the clean-up campaign at the location of the Bagmati river lying nearest to them on June 5 to mark the campaign’s third anniversary and entry into the fourth year.

Next Saturday the campaign will be marking its 158th week during which it will clean-up the stretch of the Bagmati river near the Buddhanagar Bridge.
