31 July, Kathmandu: The second edition of Everest Premier League (EPL) with the highest amount of prize in the country is to be organized upcoming December.

Organizer Johora Sports Management’s Chairman Amir Akhtar said that six teams- one each from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhairahawa, Biratnagar, Birgunj and Pokhara- are participating in the tournament.

The champion of the tournament would bag Rs 2.1 million, the highest amount of prize in the country’s cricket history.

Earlier, the prize of Prime Minister Cup Cricket organized by the National Sports Council was Rs 2 million.

At a press meet in the Capital City on Sunday, coach of the National Team Jagat Tamata, chairman Akhtar and National Cricket Team’s Captain Paras Khadka released a new logo of the tournament.

The first edition of the tournament was lifted by Panchakanya Tej played under the captainship of Sharad Bheshwakar. Last year, the winner was given away Rs 500,000.

All the games of the tournament shall be played on the TU International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. RSS
