29 Nov, Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said today that final preparations were on for making amendment to the constitution.

Addressing the CPN (Maoist Centre)’s politburo meeting held at the party central office at Perisdanda here today, party chairman Dahal said a meeting of the Council of Ministers today will endorse the constitution amendment proposal as far as possible.

“The government is vigorously working to continue with the efforts aimed at forging national consensus for constitution amendment and increasing the acceptability of the constitution by all sides by bringing all sides on board,” PM Dahal reiterated.

Party leader Agni Prasad Sapkota who was present in the meeting said that party chairman and Prime Minister Dahal briefed the politburo meeting on the initiatives made so far and the discussions among the parties regarding the constitution amendment.

The Prime Minister stated that a way out would be found soon, saying the country cannot be held hostage to political impasse for long.

Giving out information on the decisions made by the meeting, leader Sapkota said, “In today’s meeting the Prime Minister and party chairman mainly briefed about the progress made in connection to the constitution amendment. The discussions held with the President on Monday has created positive environment. The meeting has also decided to continue with the efforts at forging national consensus on constitution amendment.”

According to him, in the meeting the Prime Minister urged the party to counter the tendency to prevent the constitution implementation and take the country into difficulty. He (the PM) had also informed the meeting about the formal and informal discussions held with the ruling coalition partners regarding this.

The politburo members expressing their views in the meeting today stressed the need of paying attention to strengthening the party organization, expanding the party at the people’s level and formulating a three-month action plan for the same.

Party spokesperson Pampha Bhusal said the meeting discussed the constitution amendment proposal presented by chairman Dahal and the three-month party action plan, among other issues. The politburo will next meet on Wednesday. RSS
