18 September, KATHMANDU: The government has urged the Election Commission today to reschedule the candidacy nomination date for the Constituent Assembly polls slated for November 19.
A cabinet meeting held on Wednesday decided to urge the EC to change nomination date for CA polls without affecting the November 19 election.
The agitating 33-party alliance led by CPN-Maoist has called on the nationwide closure strike on September 25 and 26 coinciding with the candidacy nomination date in order to disrupt the poll process. The EC has scheduled nomination for proportional representation on September 23 and nomination for first-past-the-post on September 26.
Earlier this morning, Chairman of Interim Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi and officials of the EC discussed on the issue of changing nomination date.
