27 August, Kathmandu:

Janak Negi, a Nepal Police Head Constable, who was injured in course of the clash that took place in Tikapur, Kailali District on August 24, died here today while under treatment. With this, the death toll from the Tikapur incident has reached nine.

Negi had been undergoing treatment at the Nepal Police Hospital at Maharajgunj. He breathed his last at 2 am today, according to Nepal Police spokesperson Kamal Singh Bom.

Preparations are being made to take Negi’s mortal remains to his home town, Jhalari, in Kanchanpur, spokesman Bom said.

Seven policemen and a two-year-old boy were killed when the Tharu demonstrators protesting against the delineation of federal provinces clashed with police breaching the curfew order on August 24. RSS
