19 April, Kathmandu: The Health Ministry has sought Rs. 1.7 trillion from the government to establish and upgrade all the health institutions across the country within the next seven years.

The budget was demanded for the seven-year integrated health infrastructure plan that the Ministry has developed to ensure the required equipments, physical infrastructure and human resources in all the health institutions in the country. The proposal to this end was tabled before the Finance Ministry on Tuesday. The Ministry has taken the proposal positively, said Pratap Poudel, chief advisor to the Health Minister.

The Finance Ministry has been providing Rs. 60 billion annually to establish health institutions. But in this rate it would require 50 years to complete all the health institutions as planned, claims the Health Ministry. RSS
