10 Oct, Kathmandu: The government has decided to amend the Health Worker and Security Act-2066 BS.

The Ministry of Health had put forward a proposal to amend the Act to respond to the demand for stern action against those involved in the incidents of attack on health workers, vandalism and arson on health facilities.

On September 24, the Ministry on September 24 had formed a committee coordinated by Chief Specialist Dr Pushpa Chaudhary to prepare a draft with details of the matters subject to amendment.

The proposal of amendment tabled at the Council of Ministers today was accepted. Health Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel said that the amendment was necessary to check the growing attacks on health workers and institutions.
