3 Feb, Bhadrapur: India’s ambassador to Nepal, Ranjit Rae inaugurated four buildings constructed with Indian assistance at different places of Jhapa district on Thursday.

The buildings inaugurated include the building of the Laxmi Higher Secondary School at Baniyani, which was constructed at a total cost of Rs 24.33 million, two two-storied buildings at Rajgadh and another two-storied building at Shantinagar of the district.

The two buildings at Rajgadh were constructed at a total cost of Rs 11.6 million and the building at Shantinagar at a cost of Rs 12.3 million.

Speaking at the building inauguration function held at Baniyani, Ambassador Rae stressed on the need of further deepening and strengthening the India-Nepal relations in the coming days. He stated that India was collaborating with Nepal for its socio-economic development.

He also said that India has given high priority for the development of education in Nepal, adding some 270 school buildings have been constructed in Nepal through Indian assistance. Ambassador Rae pledged that the assistance that India has been providing for the development of education, health, energy and infrastructure sector in Nepal would be continued in future also.

The Indian ambassador also announced on the occasion that the Government of India will provide scholarships to a male and female student each passing out with distinction marks in the Grade 10 examination from the school.

The buildings at Rajgadh and Shantinagar were constructed with the cooperation provided by the Nepal-India Friendship Society.

Also on Thursday, Ambassador Rae inspected the two-storied school building under construction at Pathariya. The school building is also being constructed with the financial assistance provided by Nepal-India Friendship Society. RSS
