An MoU has been signed between Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) and India for extending cooperation in eye health care sector in Nepal.

Dr Tirtha Prasad Mishra from NNJS and Gyanbir Singh, Secretary of Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, signed the MoU amid a programme here on Tuesday.

India has been providing support for eye health care in Nepal through NNJS since 2001. This year alone the Indian government has provided financial assistance over Rs 40 million financial aid.

On the occasion, National Planning Commission (NPC) member Dr Kripasindhu Prasad has stated that India’s contribution to Nepal in eye healthcare sector was remarkable.

At a programme organized by Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Dr Kripasindhu said that Indian’s aid was important to make eye health care accessible for one and all in Nepal.

Also speaking at the programme, Secretary of Ministry of Health Shanta Bahadur Shrestha shared that the government was preparing to introduce health policy on Nepal to better ensure eye healthcare to everyone.

Similarly, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Ranjit Rae, said that India had a policy to prioritize remote and backward places in Nepal for extending cooperation.

Stating that Nepal and India have been sharing a steadfast friendship since centuries, the temporary political problems will not subside the friendship between these countries.
On the occasion, Indian Envoy Rae pledged further cooperation to Nepal in coming days.

Likewise, economist Bishowambhar Pyakurel spoke of the need for Nepal and India to sort out their political differences, stating that the Nepal-India friendship was exemplary.

Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuwan University Dr Tirtha Khaniya and Vice-Chancellor of the Far-Western University Bhuwan Shrestha underscored the need for India to lend support to produce skilled manpower for eye health sector. RSS
