7 Oct, Kathmandu:

Nepali National Cricket Team head coach Pubudu Dassanayake on Tuesday resigned from his post citing personal reasons.

Coach Dassanayake, a Canadian national, tendered his resignation to Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Acting General Secretary Uttam Kumar Karmacharya. He had joined the national cricket team of Nepal as the coach in 2011.

The Nepali team played the ICC T20 World Cup held in Bangladesh in March, 2014 under Dassanayake’s coaching. Nepal’s participation in the T20 World Cup is the biggest achievement in the country’s cricket history.

In spite of the resignation, Dassanayake will lead the Nepali team against Papua New Guinea in the world Cricket League Championship to be played next month, according to the CAN.
