20 May, Malekhu (Dhading): Candidates from the Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre) have been elected mayor and deputy mayor in Nilkantha Municipality.

As per the vote count which concluded this morning, NC’s Bhim Prasad Dhungana was elected to the mayor’s post with 13,166 votes under his belt. His closest contender Arjun Shrestha from CPN (UML) mustered only 6,628 votes.

Maoist Centre’s Manraj Bhandari was elected to the deputy mayor’s post with 10,325 votes. His closest contender Ganga Devi Shrestha from UML garnered 6,985 votes.

Of the total of 33,099 voters, the turnout in Nilkantha Municipality touched on 24,375. As per the results, Congress has won in six wards while UML and Maoist Centre have won in four wards each. RSS
