27 June, Kathmandu:

The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, is to disrupt today’s meeting of the Legislature-Parliament if the government does not commit to providing a lump sum of Rs 200,000 to the earthquake survivors.

Today’s full meeting of the NC Parliamentary Party noted that the party was compelled to obstruct the House as its demands were not addressed.
After the meeting, NC leader Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the Prime Minister should address the House to respond to our party’s demands. “Otherwise, we will disrupt today’s meeting too”, he said.
Today’s meeting of the Legislature-Parliament is taking place this afternoon.
Stating that they are ready for talks if the government called them for the same regarding operation of House proceedings, Mahat said, “The government has played politics even in collecting names of earthquake victims. The government should give clear reply on this.”
Responding to a query, Mahat recalled that the CPN (UML) had also obstructed Parliament for 56 days when it remained as the main opposition party. RSS
