The Nepali Congress Central Working Committee today passed a condolence proposal over the passing away of the party president and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.

The emergency meeting of the NC Central Working Committee held at the party Central Office at Sanepa also decided not to organize any party programmes for 13 days and to close the party offices across the country for three days.

The party has stated that it will hold condolence meeting at the party offices throughout the country on the 13th day of the demise.

Briefing the media about the meeting’s decisions, party general secretary Prakash Man Singh said that Koirala would be cremated at the electric crematorium if the Koirala family consented to.

He said Koirala’s body would be kept at the Dasrath Stadium from 12 noon today and the funeral procession started from the stadium after 2 pm on Wednesday. The funeral rites would be held at the Pashupati Aryaghat.

The party stated that although the party has halted its other activities, the ongoing activities related to the general convention would however be continued from February 13, Central Committee member Gagan Kumar Thapa said. RSS
