20 Feb, Kathmandu: Nepali Congress leaders and the ministers who are in the government from the party have demanded the party leadership to take a leading role in holding local body elections within next two months.

The meeting of NC leaders and the ministers organised at NC Parliamentary Party Office in Singha Durbar on Sunday decided to conclude the local polls within next two months.

The meeting also urged the government to announce the date for the elections at the earliest by forging agreement with all other political parties, said chief secretary of the office Krishna Prasad Poudel.

Earlier in the morning, the meeting of top leaders of ruling NC and CPN (Maoist Centre) had agreed to announce the poll date tomorrow (Monday). RSS
