5 Jan, Tanahu: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the party popularity depends on the result of the village election.”If the party wins the village polls, it automatically becomes victorious,” he said.

Addressing a programme organised in his honour at Damauli today, the NC President said, “The results of election at the village level or how many seats the party wins in the village election determines its representation at the National Assembly.”

Directing the party cadres to unite and actively engage to garner more votes in such election, the party president said he was here to inaugurate the sixth ‘Tanahu Festival’.

He further said the NC was wholeheartedly committed to strengthening democracy and the republic. “The Congress, being the largest party, is not free to refuse its responsibilities,” he added.
