25 May, Kathmandu: Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed his sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ for resigning from his post as per the agreement reached between the NC and the CPN (MC) regarding a rotation in the leadership of the government.

Issuing a statement here today, Deuba has said that the present government was formed as per a political agreement reached between the two parties to expand the acceptability of the new constitution, hold three tier elections, implement the constitution and take the country towards prosperity. Accordingly, the amendment process of the constitution has been forwarded, local level elections held. “Important progress was also achieved during this period through a significant increase in the economic growth rate and development activities by maintaining law and order in the country,” Deuba has said in the statement.

Lauding Prime Minister’s Dahal role, the NC president has congratulated him while thanking all the political parties and the Nepali people at large who contributed to making the government’s term fruitful. He has also made it clear that the process of change in the government would not in any way affect the second phase of local-level elections. RSS
