28 Nov, Kathmandu: Nepali women’s cricket team has lost to Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the second match of the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup T20 in Thailand, marking the second humiliating defeat in a row.

Earlier in an inaugural match played on Saturday, Nepal was defeated by Pakistan by nine wickets.

In the match held at the Cricket Stadium of the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Nepal lost all its wickets and made only 23 runs in 16.2 overs.

Triumphant Sri Lankan team, chasing 24 runs, met their target in 4.3 overs while losing two wickets.

Nepal’s Jyoti Pandey made 16 runs while the performance of other batswoman remained dismal. While Sita Rana Magar achieved four runs, team captain Rubina Chettri collected one.

Other batswoman returned pavilion with zero run. Captain Rubina and Karuna Bhandari took one wicket each.

Nepal is scheduled to face Bangladesh on Tuesday in the tournament where players from six countries – Bangaldesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India, among others are vying including the host country. The tournament is organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). RSS
