nepali cricket team receives welcome8 May,Kathmandu: The Nepali Senior National Cricket Team, which returned home after becoming the champions of the World Cricket League Division-3 held in Bermuda received a grand welcome here today.

Office-bearers of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and cricket lovers, who reached Tribhuvan International Airport, welcomed the team.

They honoured the cricket players by playing Panchebaja band as well as by offering flowers, khada and by smearing vermilion powder.

Cricket lovers also chanted different slogans as they welcomed the cricket team by singing patriotic songs like ‘Yo Nepali Shir Uchali Sansarama Lamkinchha,’ ‘Rato Ra Chandra Surya, Jangi Nishan Hamro,’ among others.

Cricket team captain Paras Khadka said that much effort was necessary in the days ahead, saying this victory is the victory of all the Nepalis.

Khadka said Nepal won the championship due to self-confidence and hard labour even if it suffered defeats in the first two matches.Grandfather of Khadka had also reached TIA to welcome the Nepali Cricket Team.
The procession reached the team to Tripureshwor after going through different parts of the city including Gaushala, Chabahil, Gyaneshwor, Putalisadak and Sahidgate.

Locals welcomed the team by offering flowers and vermilion powder from rooftops, windows and doors of the houses along the route.
