The Banasthali Karate Dojo of Nepal has won the title of the Second International Karate Championship.

Banasthali became the Team Champion clinching eight gold, two silver and two bronze medals in the competition held at the National Table-tennis Training Centre at Lainchaur.

India which clinched fivegold, three silver and 29 bronze medals, stood second in the competition organised by Nepal Shito-ryu Karate Do Association, Branch Dojo Samakhusi.

Sri Lanka which came out in the third position won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal each while Bangladesh stood in the fourth position with one silver and two bronze medals.

Bangaram Tungi of India and Anjali Rai of the Manamaiju Dojo of Nepal were declared the best players in the men’s and women’s category respectively. Manish Khadka of the Nawashanti Dojo of Nepal and Lalita of India were chosen as the ‘rising players’ under the men’s and women’s group respectively. Rolpa Dojo of Nepal clinched the title of the ‘most disciplined team’.

Altogether 432 players including 371 from Nepalm 62 from India, three each from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and two from Pakistan, had vied for 26 gold medals in the two-day event.
