18 July, Kathmandu: Nepal, with outstanding bowling from team captain Sandeep Lamichhane, succeeded in winning the second match as well held in Singapore today under the U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier Division.

The Nepali team defeated Malaysia in the match held at the Singapore Cricket Field. Nepal, winning the toss, chose to field first. Team captain Sandeep Lamichhane’s outstanding bowling limited Malaysia to just 58 runs in 25.5 overs. Sandeep took five wickets as in the first match in which Nepal defeated the host country Singapore by four wickets yesterday.

Likewise, Pawan Sarraf took three wickets and Sandeep Sunar and Kishore Mahato took one wicket each.

No player from the Malaysian team made remarkable runs in the match. Nepal met the target victory in 9.5 overs at the loss of five wickets. It gave extra 11 runs to its competitor.

Nepal’s opening batsman Sandeep Sunar was out with six runs to his account, while Aadil Khan with five runs and Deependra Singh Airee with the collection of four runs.

Opening batsman Assif Sheikh scored the most runs (23) for his team in the match. He hit one six and 5 fours in 20 balls. Likewise, Pranit Thapa Magar secured 18 unabated runs with one six and four fours facing the 12 balls.

Nepal is meeting with Afghanistan for its third match on coming Thursday.RSS
