Gorkha, Feb. 2: A new statue of King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal has been installed at Gorkha museum based at the district headquarters.

The old statue had been damaged during the students’ agitation in 2063 BS.

The eight feet long new statue made up of eight different metals was prepared by a team led by sculptor Bishnu Prasad Baral in Lalitpur under the supervision of the Department of Archaeology.

The statue will be open for public display after consultation with the Archaeology Department, said museum chief Karuna Rai.

The statue was prepared and brought here as per the direction of Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Ram Kumar Shrestha during his museum inspection visit last year.

The museum authorities hope that the statue will be one of the major attractions for the visitors. RSS
