KATHMANDU, Nov 19: Minister for Energy Radha Gyawali has informed that there will be no power cut in Kathmandu, Janakpur, Lumbini, Muktinath and Dhulikhel during the SAARC Summit.

Speaking at an interaction at Reporters’ Club in the capital on Wednesday, Minister Gyawali added that 170 Megawatts of electricity is currently being imported from India out of demanded 500 Megawatts.

 

 

She further claimed that there will be lesser power outage in dry season this year as compared to the previous years.

Saying that recent function of the SAARC Power Center concluded that electricity generated from Nepal would provide solution to power shortage the SAARC countries are currently reeling under, Minister Gyawali added that power development and trade will be major agendas during the summit.

“SAARC Framework for Energy Cooperation Agreement is one of three major issues to be disused during the summit,” she said, “After the agreement is signed, Nepal’s electricity will enlighten the entire region.
