20, August, KATHMANDU: Notorious don Dipak Manange aka Rajiv Gurung (46) has been sent to jail today after he could not post a bail bond of Rs. 29 million as sought by the Special Court in money laundering case.

However, Pasang, one of his wives, was released on bail after she deposited Rs 250,000 as sought by the Court on Tuesday.

After an initial hearing that lasted for three days, a joint bench of Chairman of the Special Court, Kedar Prasad Chalise, and members Manoraman Bhattarai and Bhupendra Prasad Rai fixed the bail bond today, according to  the Special Court.

Manange was nabbed from City Centre at Kamal Pokhari on Friday night.

The Money Laundering Investigation Department registered cases against five notorious gangsters including Manange, Ganesh Lama, Parshuram Basnet, Chakre Milan, Deepak Manange and Abishekh Giri on May 19.

Manange was charged of accumulating property worth Rs. Rs 147. 03 million by involving in extortion and other criminal activities.

Ganesh Lama, Parshuram Basnet and Chakre Milan— presented themselves before the Court, while Abhishek Giri is still at large.
