5 Dec, Kathmandu: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), government body formed to carry out post earthquake-reconstruction works, has so far allocated Rs 27.3 billion to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development, to distribute the first tranche of house rebuilding grants to the survivors of the ‘Gorkha’ quake.

To date, the Ministry has signed the grants agreement with 5 30,646 people who lost their houses to the quake, according to Ministry’s Central Level Project Implementation Unit. Among them, the first installment of the grants has been deposited in the bank accounts of 444,462 individuals, NRA Spokesperson Ram Prasad Thapaliya said.

A meeting of the NRA Steering Committee on September 26 decided to provide grants assistance of Rs 300,000 to the disaster survivors in three tranches.
