Various health institutions in the district including the District Hospital are reeling under shortage of medicines due to the unofficial blockade by India.

Dr Jhabindra Dhakal at the hospital said that the hospital has only 15 types of medicines in store out of the total 70 types provided by the government for free.

Likewise, Dhakal said that the health facility also lacks medicines prescribed for diabetes and high blood pressure and medical equipments required for surgery.

Chhetra Bahadur Karki of Sajha Pharmacy at Tansen said that the drug store is facing shortage of medicines as they are yet to have supply of medicines since more than one month due to the blockade.

However, Madhav Darlami, information officer at the District Public Health Office, said that the store of medicines in the district still lasts one month more. RSS
