25 April, Kathmandu: A meeting of the Legislature-Parliament scheduled for today has been put off without entering its agenda until 11:00 am tomorrow.

Parliament Secretariat General Secretary Manohar Prasad Bhattarai informed about the meeting adjournment by issuing a notice which cited a special reason behind the postponement.

Prior to this, with the commencement of meeting, major opposition CPN (UML)’s lawmaker Gangalal Tuladhar spoke out against the revised constitution amendment proposal registered by the government in the parliament. He termed the document ‘not genuine’.

His stance was that the House could not move ahead until the line minister formally informed it about the amendment proposal. With Tuladhar concluding his views, UML lawmakers stood up from their respective seats as a gesture of their protest.

The opposition lawmakers, turning down Speaker Onsari Gharti’s repeated calls to them to take their seats, forced her to adjourn the meeting for 15 minutes. The UML has accused the government of tabling the new amendment proposal without consulting the party. RSS
