31 Aug, Kathmandu: A team headed by President of Legislature-Parliament Committee on Social Justice and Human Rights Sushil Kumar Shrestha today took stock the health status of senior orthopaedic surgeon Prof Dr Govinda KC, who is on a hunger strike, and expressed concern on his demands and the government’s past agreement with him.
Noting concern over Dr KC’s deteriorating health condition, President Shrestha drew government’s serious attention to take effective and swift actions to break the hunger strike by Dr KC.
Dr KC has been on fast-unto-death at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Maharajgunj demanding reforms in health and medical sector. Moreover, the Committee has demanded to create an environment conductive to allow operation of other services excluding emergency services which have been disrupted by doctors of the Teaching Hospital.
