nepal-election-commission3 Oct-Kathmandu: The Election Commission has published on Thursday the final list of political parties taking part in the proportionate representation (PR) election under the November 19 CA elections, and also assigned them election symbols.

 

A total of 124 political parties had filed nominations for the PR election. The Commission had received registration of a total of 130 parties.

 

Accordingly, the political parties taking part in the PR election will have to submit the closed list of their candidates to the Commission today, according to EC Spokesperson Bir Bahadur Rai.

 

The central office of the Commission in Kathmandu has been designated the PR election office and Commission Secretary Nagendra Dahal the election officer.

 

Meanwhile, the Commission today brought to use the joint election operation centre. The centre will have more than 50 staff collecting information related to the election from across the country.

 

The GIS system established at the center will also help garner information about the activities taking place in all the voting centers in the districts, adds Rai.

 

A total of 10,015 voting centres have been set up for the November 19 elections, according to the Commission.

 

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has said that the nominations for the FPTP election took place successfully across the country on Thursday.

 

The filing of nominations took place successfully in the office of the election officers in all the district headquarters on Thursday, said spokesperson Rai.

 

As of 10:00 pm, news have been received of a total of 1036 candidates filing their nominations in 14 districts in the east, 1,600 in 13 districts in the central region, 1,055 in the western, 620 in the mid-west and 391 candidates in the far-western region.

 

Likewise, 594 candidates filed nominations as independent candidates, according to spokesperson Rai.

 

The highest number of nominations was received in Kathmandu at 360.
