15 April, Kathmandu: Petroleum products are once again in shortage in the market for failure of payment of the dues by Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) to the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

NOC is yet to pay Rs.5 billion as dues since February to IOC.
The problem was created when the request to Nepal government to provide the dues to IOC was not heeded.

The NOC also today informed the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies on the dues and regular import of petroleum, said NOC Spokesman Mukund Prasad Ghimire.

He said the curtailed amount of oil has been distributed from the stocks of NOC. NOC’s 34,000 kl of stock has come down to 27,000 kl until today. If the IOC is to continue curtail, the stock can not last very long.

Spokesman Ghimire said only 1700 kl has entered Nepal as against 2,400 kl to be imported daily from Raxaul. 1900 kl was sent after NOC request today, he said.  If the present situation is to continue, there will be further crisis of petroleum. RSS
