22 May, Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the government is celebrating the national Republic Day on coming May 29 by organising various programmes with the people’s participation.

Addressing a meeting of the Republic Day Celebration Main Committee held at the Home Ministry, Singha Durbar today, the Prime Minister pledged to celebrate the Day among the people instead of making the celebration just a formality.

“The Republic Day of Nepal is the moment that marks the change of an era in country’s history,” he said, adding that the government was committed to making the entire people to feel that it was their day.

In his reaction to the first-phase local election’s results that continue to come in, the Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair said, “The country wins with the successful completion of the first-round of election.

The election concluding in a free, peaceful and impartial manner, not who won or lost, is the victory of the country. This is a great matter that the election was held in an absolutely peaceful and impartial atmosphere.”

He insisted on the need of making the second-phase election successful like the May 14 election and taking the country towards a path of economic development.

Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi were also present in the meeting. RSS
