Political parties and people’s representatives from Gorkha district called on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and urged him for the allocation of budget to open a track to Tibet via Chhekampar of the district.

They met the PM at latter’s office Singha Durbar on Wednesday and urged him to prioritize the construction of roadway to link the district with Tibet.

Nepali Congress district president in Gorkha, Hari Bahadur Ghale, said the political leaders drew the PM’s attention on the development priorities in the district as opening a track from Benighat to Tibet via Arughat, Sirdibas and Nalyangbhangjyang; and immediate compensation of the lands used for the construction of Budhigandaki hydro project, and the distribution of grants to the people who suffered worst after the last year’s earthquakes.

It is said the roadway from Benighat to Tibet is of nearly 150 meter length, and if it is completes on time, it would be the fastest route from the capital city to reach Tibet.

Following the meeting, PM Oli assured that development works would not be halted for lack of budget, and compensation of the lands used for the hydro project would be provided soon. Those awaiting grants after the quake would also be heard.
